Global Kids Fashion Week has arrived and we have been so excited to be taking part in the first ever fashion event, just for children! We had arrived early to get involved with the fitting session and backstage to see all the glitz and glamour taking form.
The event was taking place at the very prestigious Freeman Hall in Holborn. The first room featured a huge pink wish tree – hanging from the branches was an array of bespoke items that have been kindly donated to the wish tree auction in aid of Kids Company. Items include a statement necklace from Oscar de la Renta, a one off Mischka Aoki Swarovski dress and a pair of bespoke Zoobug Sunglasses.
They also had a popcorn stand that filled the air with a sweet scent of childhood nostalgia, a mini nail bar with non-toxic wash-off nail varnish and a photo booth that featured a tray of Zoobug sunglasses to really get their creative model poses warmed up.
Walking down the catwalk, and going backstage there was the make-up section and girls getting their long hair straightened with a single front plait. Their parents were patiently on standby and enjoying the refreshments available. There were such an array of children chaperon's, stylists, coordinators and Team Zoobug as well!
Seeing the rehearsal really made us appreciate the cool serenity that they display upon going down the catwalk. The finale had giant balloons on bangles held by each child; these were fun but also quite problematic with a couple going astray!
The show itself was spectacular, everything you would expect a fashion show to be. It was great to see children in the audience as well, busy taking photos and looking in their goody bags. Creative lighting effects and pop music really set a fun mood whilst the children all professionally made their walk, posed at the end of the catwalk in front of the cameras and then headed backstage again. The end of the event had all the children lined up dancing together with Eyewear by Zoobug on the screens. The event ended with a huge cascade of confetti that filled the hall with glitter.
